Weekly Wrap Up – presented by River City Labs

Community Update 10/10/17

It’s been a busy week at River City Labs.  New cohorts #BNE3 arrived for the RCL Accelerator Program – Powered by Muru D, and the arrival of some Austin Tx guests.

It was business as usual, we couldn’t start the week without some caffeine. Thanks to one of Brisbane’s newest social venues The Osbourne Hotel, RCL residents enjoyed conversations over cups of coffee.

River City Labs welcomed the WP Engine team from Austin, Texas. Here for the official announcement and launch of their Brisbane based office in River City Labs, WP Engine didn’t disappoint. With a spread of amazing foods and souvenirs for guests in attendance.

Earlier in the day, RCL Founder Steve Baxter and CEO Peta Ellis welcomed the Austin Team.

Here’s a few shout out wins.

WP Engine

This is Andy Perez’s last week in Australia. He is heading back to their head office in Austin.
With an impressive customer base already building within Australia. WP Engine is growing their team.


Team SiteSee are in discussions to start another pilot with an Australian Telco, and with a Japanese company to launch a trial with gas and oil assets. SiteSee is only getting bigger and better!



Signed their first enterprise customer and gained a web designer. That’s a win!


Tylor will be speaking at the Github Constellation Event. Over two days of delving into the the future of software!


The team are excited about their new office – the fish is much happier with natural light!


Danny is heading to PAX this weekend to represent the team. And Richard and Toni have become parents. Congratulations to their new family!


Won a new (enterprise) customer and is 50% through its State conference sales road trip (Victoria and Queensland remain). They are also looking for engineers with web/mobile skills wanting to use their skills to help people recover from heart problems.


The team has signed up Nomnom Korean bar and restaurant on bakery lane, in addition to Lost Bar and Nightclub to take bitcoin and other crypto payments.



CoverCard has appointed a new advisor, Phil de Courcey, who is currently the CEO of the Resources and Engineering Skills Alliance.


Codemakers surpassed their sales target for Term 4!  2017 coding classes!

They are celebrating Shaun being with the team for 1 year. He was their first hire and they have just hired #5 Anthony starting on Mon 13 Nov. The team is growing!
